Andrew said he wanted to go camping for his birthday, and since we LOVE to camp we thought it would be fun. We have been wanting to take a trip down to the Wolf Education Research Center ( http://www.wolfcenter.org/default.aspx) for a field trip, and decided to try out the state park at Winchester Lake for camping. 🙂 We loved it, even though the bees were down right awful! We will defiantly come back. Next time to fish! 🙂
This was all the way at the parking lot (good 100 yards to the wolf pen, large lens totally zoomed in) we got to go inside the first fence with a staff member and one of the wolves came right up to the fence.
SO stunning. She is looking right at Andrew, who was making an odd (to her) noise.
Flora’s head and one of the wolves coming to the fence.
A bit of water play.
Pretty. I love thistles.
HUGE RED moon on our last night. Lovely Sabbath evening.
Sunset our first night.
View from our camp site. 🙂 12, loop b. While the water was not really swim able we enjoyed playing in it a bit and we rented a canoe and saw a good portion of it.
Home for three nights. 🙂 One night we had a wonderful thunder storm. Since this is a new tent (rain fly not pictures) we were happy to try it out in wet weather. Perfect. 🙂
Our first night we walked around part of the lake, then went to the out door stage area and watched a movie by PBS on wolves. It was perfect, as we went to Wolf Place the next evening.
The lake is part old lake and part old saw mill log holding pond..it’s long and rather odd shaped.
On our walk
Towns Sign. Tiny town, but had a wonderful mesume of its history that we did one of the afternoons to avoid the awful bees. The lady who walked us though was a born and raised resident as well as her parents. She graduated in 1957 and LOVED how cerious the kids were 🙂 We spend a good hour and 1/2 going through everything. She even let the kids try one of the old hand ran washing machines. got the irons down, butter chuns etc. At the end they got to ring the old church bell. It was quite fun.
Flora said this one had a “cup holder” Sounds good to me! 🙂
Miss F 🙂
And regular ones too. 🙂
Side saddles the kids could try.
Stopped off here for a leg stretcher. 🙂
